A few weeks back, I heard about the death of Ryan Shay, an elite athlete who died during the Olympic Trials in New York city. Then, I heard of the death of Philadelphia police officer Chuck Cassidy, and was further horrified to find out that he is the uncle of a former work colleague. And, having just run a marathon, I saw my share of ambulances go by and am thankful that none of them were coming along to pick me up.
Well, I haven’t read this anywhere, but my marathon pre-training strategy has been the following:
Do absolutely no running the week before the training starts
Eat too much, mostly the “wrong” stuff (don’t worry, it’s all part of my strategy)
Eat one (ok, slightly more than one) pint of Graeter’s Ice Cream
