I found some awesome music on Shockwave Sound.com. I can’t stop listening to it. Anyway, it inspired me to create a somewhat cinematic overview of the services provided over at my film studio. This was a snap to make, and was done entirely in After Effects using Andrew Kramer techniques. Hope you enjoy! Another Pixeldust Film makes it debut!

This movie represents the latest in my Video Biography portfolio and has a whole slew of new-found technologies as part of the project. We did a 2-day shoot with the jaw-dropping HVR-Z1U, and used a series of softboxes to light the subjects. Amazingly, we did absolutely NO color correction on the second day of the shoot (the parts with the red roses in the background). That’s right. That’s straight out of the camera, and we didn’t touch it up at all. It speaks volumes about what you can do with the Sony Z1U and the right lighting. (more…)

Pixeldust Films reloaded

I’m pleased to announce that Pixeldust Films has been relaunched. This time out, I’m using Wordpress to run the site in its entirety. It doesn’t look exactly the way I’d like, in fact I’m currently using a canned skin, but I’m ok with that. What I’ve learned is that people go to that site because they like the films. I’m kinda into this minimalist thing right now, although this blog doesn’t necessarily illustrate that!

Anyway, head on over and check out the films. We’ve added a new service, called “Digital Greeting Cards” and they’re already starting to take off. Here’s one I just finished for a former client.

Wild Bill Guarnere Flash Intro

A lot of folks over at Wild Bill Guarnere.com have been asking for me to relink the original Flash introduction that I created so many years back. Although it certainly wasn’t difficult to produce, I think it had the right combination of messaging, music and overall tempo, which are for me, the three main ingredients of good motion graphics. I’m still grateful to the late Michael Kamen, who allowed us to use part of his original Band of Brothers score.

I’ve thought about redoing this intro many times, as I now have the tools via my film studio to create something more reflective of today’s technology, and maybe one day I will.

In the meantime, I think the message itself remains the same no matter what.

The Close Harmony Singers

Back when I was an educator, I started a group called “Close Harmony.” The group contained anywhere from 18 to 35 kids from year to year, and I was blessed to work with such an outstanding ensemble of young singers.

I recently came across a video of my last visit to the “Music in the Parks” festival, held annually in beautiful Hershey, PA. We took home some prizes this time out, and it was great to be reminded of the joys associated with teaching.

This video was taken by one of the parents who was chaperoning the trip. It’s a fantastic sequence, and captures the spirit of the entire day from arrival to departure as well as our performances. Hershey, PA has one of the nicest school districts in Pennsylvania, and is a great place for music adjudication. Incidentally, a former professor of mine runs the entire program, and it’s nice to have the affiliation with my alma mater.

Pixeldust Films, LLC is proud to announce the official launch of our new website, Pixeldust Films.com. We’ll be adding tons of new content and features over the next few months, so stay tuned while we continue to build out our new home on the web. Our site features the latest news and information, features our video and web work, and provides a comprehensive overview of our services.

The company, run by Creative Director Gino L. Guarnere is on the fast-track to becoming the premiere HDV and Videography studio in the Philadelphia area.

The company built itself by providing free samples of our work to local area businesses. We also produced a few Video Biographies for our family members to show just how great our work was, and then brought it to the consumer market. The speed at which we’ve grown has been astounding, and we’re proud to now bring our brand of top-quality film, video and rich media to you.

Since our humble beginnings, our clips have been featured in the Tribeca Film Festival Clips Competition sponsored by American Express. We’ve created commercial spots for the most celebrated local restaurants and businesses. We were a pioneer in establishing the format currently being embraced by Turn Here.com, who has also acquired
some of our work. And one of our most recent features is being syndicated to over 50 Cigar Retailers across the United States. In the area of film, editing, motion graphics and web design, we pack more punch than just about anybody around.
